The Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra is giving its first summer promenade concert this year, mimicking the Last Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.

The concert, in association with Lewes Bonfire Association, will end with a bonfire display.

Conductor is Stephen Bell, the man behind the BPO's Viennese concert last New Year's Eve and will feature English National Opera's Naomi Harvey.

Says Stephen: "These outdoor promenade concerts have become more and more popular over the past few years. It is an opportunity for classical fans to let their hair down."

The programme will feature the overture to Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Walton's Crown Imperial, Sibelius's Finlandia and Strauss's Blue Danube among others.

Parking is free. There is a licensed bar. Starts 7.30pm.

Tickets £18.50 in advance on 01273 709709 or 0870 2427808 or from www.ticketmaster.co.uk
