Troubled tour operator MyTravel was yesterday reported to have put its American businesses up for sale.

The group, formerly known as Airtours, has hired Banc of America Securities to handle the sale which could raise more than £185 million, according to the Sunday Times.

It is understood interested parties have been given financial information on the firms and told they have ten days to make an offer.

MyTravel's US operations include cruise booking agency TSI, car rental group Auto Europe, Lexington, which provides online booking and World Choice Services, which organises hotel reservations.

MyTravel declined to comment.
