Delays are expected over the next month on one of the busiest main roads in Sussex.

The A27 Old Shoreham Road in Portslade will be resurfaced starting on Monday.

Until July 6, the westbound carriageway of Old Shoreham Road and the Hangleton Link will be narrowed to one lane.

During the second week from July 7, the link road will be closed at times with diversions in place, Work will be carried out at night but no noisy operations will be allowed after 11pm.

The third section will include work up to the junction with Romany Close and there will be a contra flow system in Old Shoreham Road for part of that time.

This will provide one lane in each direction.

During the final week, the top surface of the road will be replaced and new road markings will be installed.

Brighton and Hove City Council says the job is scheduled to take about four weeks but this depends on the weather, Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
