Albion have played down the omission of Bobby Zamora from a pamphlet encouraging youngsters to sign up with the Seagulls.

Zamora is conspicuous by his absence from the application form for the Seagulls Club for supporters aged 16 and under.

Albion's unsettled star striker, the favourite player of most young fans, has featured prominently in previous seasons.

This time the front cover of the five-page colour pamphlet has action shots of Gary Hart, Michel Kuipers and Kerry Mayo.

Boss Steve Coppell is pictured inside with a couple of young fans and so too are skipper Danny Cullip, Adam Hinshelwood and Charlie Oatway.

The back pages include Dean Blackwell, retired former club captain Paul Rogers and Nathan Jones.

Chief executive Martin Perry said: "I wasn't consulted on the pictures that have been used. I am sure there is absolutely nothing significant in them whatsoever.

"On the front cover those three players have all in their time been presidents of the Seagulls Club, so I am not surprised they featured.

"Matt Hicks (Seagulls Club co-ordinator) consults with the designers. No-one at a higher level was consulted, which underlines the fact that it's not signifcant."

Zamora's prospects of a move to Spurs have reduced now the North Londoners have signed Helder Postiga from Porto for £6.25 million.

Zamora could miss three of Albion's first seven home matches in the Second Division due to a date change for the Withdean opener against QPR.

The game has been delayed from Saturday, August 16 to Monday, August 18 (8pm), subject to Football League confirmation, for live coverage on Sky TV.

Zamora is a regular in the England under-21 squad and they have a friendly against Croatia the following night.

Barking-born Zamora will be keen to be involved as the match acts as a warm-up for two vital European Championship qualifiers in September and is being staged at Upton Park, home of his favourite club West Ham.

The Argus revealed on Tuesday that Zamora is likely to miss home matches against Swindon on September 6 and Grimsby on October 11 because of clashes with England fixtures.
