I am deeply disturbed by the prospect of Brighton and Hove City Council's standards committee even considering permitting a taxi driving councillor to take part in local authority discussions of matters pertaining to his job (The Argus, June 20).

Our councillors are handpicked, Blair-fearing, politically correct autophobes who should never be distracted from their new national socialistic principles by someone who has had real experience of the subject under discussion.

Why set such a dangerous precedent?
