Two shots were fired during a brutal attack on a man after a boxing match.
A 34-year-old was beaten and kicked at the Effingham Park Hotel in Copthorne, near Crawley, at about 1am on Saturday.
Neither of the bullets hit the man.
Violence flared following a match featuring Crawley middleweight Alan Gilbert.
A wedding was also being held at the hotel. Police do not know whether the fight was connected to either event.
The victim was taken to East Surrey Hospital with severe bruising. No arrests were made.
