The area was more popular than attractions such as Windsor Castle, Soho, Stonehenge, the Tate Modern and Edinburgh.
Only the London Eye had more fans, taking 33 per cent of the vote in the survey carried out by souvenir retailer Glorious Britain.
The Lanes won 14 per cent of the votes, out of 700 tourists from 25 countries who were surveyed.
Covent Garden came third, with nine per cent, followed by Cambridge University with eight per cent, Windsor with seven per cent and Soho with six per cent.
