As a youngster in Hampshire, lads addressed each other as "mush".
On moving to Brighton, I was everyone's "son" - an expression seldom used today.
In conversation recently with an old Brightonian, he described an occasional outing in his childhood to Falmer Village as a "hank" day out and said that Falmer had been "mullered", referring to the bisecting of the village by the A27 trunk road.
Presumably, that colloquialism comes from the word "mull", defined as a mess or mistake.
In the words of the old boy, is Falmer to be mullered once again with a football stadium and all the problems that will undoubtedly bring to the village?
