Plans to renew a licence for the first sex shop in Mid Sussex have sparked fury among residents.
Letters have been sent to the district council protesting at the application for Pillow Talk in Railway Approach, East Grinstead.
The enterprise, which had previously been run without a licence, was given a six-month permit last November. The owners have now applied for another six months.
The licence allows the shop to sell lingerie, glamour wear, sex aids, magazines and videos.
But residents say the establishment is inappropriate for the centre of East Grinstead and the town does not need a sex shop.
One letter of objection says: "Railway Approach is a busy thoroughfare, much frequented by young children, including schoolchildren."
Another added: "Many local residents have continued to express concerns that one such premise is one too many in East Grinstead."
A council licensing committee will decide tonight whether to renew the licence.
