Former Wimbledon champion Lindsay Davenport will return to Eastbourne next week to challenge for the Hastings Direct International title.
The world No. 5, who won in 2001, joins fellow top ten players Jennifer Capriati, Chanda Rubin, Daniela Hantuchova and Anastasia Myskina in the line-up for Devonshire Park.
Rubin is the defending champion, having beaten Myskina in straight sets in last year's final.
Joint tournament director John Feaver said: "We are delighted that Lindsay is returning to play in Eastbourne.
"She is an extremely popular player and this further strengthens the quality of the draw."
The news is a timely boost for organisers after the withdrawal of Anna Kournikova with a back injury earlier this week.
The LTA have announced a new state of the art system that will give live scores from next week's tournament directly from key pads on the umpires' chairs. The information will be available at LTA.org.uk
