Refuse collectors and street cleaners were meeting today to try to resolve the latest dispute to hit the service.
Union leaders have hinted at renewed industrial action in a row about the number of cleaners deployed on some shifts in central Brighton and Hove.
GMB union organiser Mark Turner said he would recommend members accepted a deal brokered at a meeting with Brighton and Hove City Council officials yesterday.
He said managers were not sticking to an agreement on the size of the street-cleaning force, drawn up after the council took the contract back in-house in 2001.
