The Princess Royal is due to visit East Sussex today as the Royal Family takes part in a British Tourism Day to boost the hard-hit industry.

Princess Anne will visit the Seven Sisters Country Park, Drusillas Zoo Park and the National Trust Clergy House in Alfriston, near Polegate.

She will be among nine Royal Family members taking part, the first time so many have joined for a theme day to back a single aspect of British life.

Between them they will visit tourist attractions including museums, a miniature railway, theatre, farm, tea rooms, a forestry centre and beauty spots.

The September 11 terrorist attacks, foot-and-mouth and the Iraq war have cost the industry an estimated £3 billion in lost revenue.
