Having read the article "Schoolboy pushed into sea and made to strip" (The Argus, June 5), I am filled with great sadness at the society we now seem to live in.

All I can think about is what this poor boy must have been thinking when he was going through this terrible experience.

He probably thought he was going to die.

This boy is now going to have to bear the psychological scars of this horrific experience for the rest of his life, as will his poor family who will undoubtedly have to help him come to terms with it.

What sort of society do we live in? Every day I read numerous articles about people being beaten up, stabbed, murdered, burgled, harassed and tormented.

I know the majority of people are decent and law-abiding but I am so concerned about the seemingly growing minority of people who seem to think brutality, ridicule and violence are okay.

My heart goes out to the boy and his family and I sincerely hope the police are able to catch his tormentors and that they are punished properly.
