A drink-driver has been jailed after overturning his car and leaving his passenger with a broken neck.
Simba Bimha, 24, from Crawley, failed to give way at a roundabout on the A130 in Essex and overturned his Lada, District Judge Kevin Gray heard.
His passenger was taken to Basildon Hospital.
Southend magistrates heard Bimha initially refused to provide a specimen of breath but a subsequent test revealed he had 99mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood against a legal limit of 35mcgs.
Richard Cooper, defending, said his client had walked to the pub for a drink with friends on April 21 and had later walked home.
However, a friend called Bimha later and asked him to drive him to Southend.
Mr Cooper said: "He was co-operative with the police and has expressed remorse."
Bimha, who admitted charges of failing to supply a specimen of breath, drink driving, and driving without insurance was jailed for two months and disqualified from driving for three years.
