It is all well and good for politicians to say go North you're homeless.
As a member of a minority ethnic group (and a born-and-bred Northerner), however, there are some places in the North of England I wouldn't touch with a ten-feet pole.
The BNP has a foothold in several Northern towns, there is seething resentment against asylum seekers whipped up by our beloved media and, as much as the cost of living is much lower than in Sussex, it is also harder to find a job.
I'm not saying going North isn't a good idea for some people.
What I am saying is look before you leap, you might go out of the frying pan and into the fire.
