I fail to understand why every time discussion of road congestion comes up it is always parents taking their children to school in 4x4s who get the blame.

There is probably no more than two or three parents at each school who use a 4x4 and this is usually through necessity.

On the whole, car manufacturers only cater for five occupants.

Many families are bigger and, to comply with the law and insurance conditions, need a vehicle with enough seats to enable all occupants to wear seat belts.

People need to understand that congestion is mainly the fault of individuals who believe it is their right to be the sole occupant of a five-seater vehicle to drive daily to and from work.

People should look at their own habits and consider whether perhaps they should be catching the bus or train, cycling, walking or hopping on a scooter to work.
