The Angmering Society has given its seal of approval to a new hospice for sick children near the village.

Organisations and individuals who have supported the Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice in Dover Lane, off the A27, have been invited to tour the new hospice.

A spokesman for the society said: "The first impressions on entering the building are of light, colour, friendliness and tranquility and these endure throughout the complex.

"The ground floor comprises a series of open-plan play and living areas and therapy rooms. There are also quiet spots for privacy, peace and reflection, which include a bereavement suite with its own landscaped garden.

"The facilities are superb. Separate wings have been provided for both younger and older children to suit their different needs.

"State-of-the-art bedrooms and adapted en suite bathrooms have been provided. Older children have their own clubroom, den and kitchenette.

"Upstairs, for parents and siblings, there are bedrooms, spacious lounges and a sun-terrace, together with areas for quiet meditation.

"The landscaping and gardens have been designed to provide space for play, sensory stimulation and quiet reflection. The whole setting is one of peace."

Society members will be pleased to learn that extensive use has been made of the digital camera which it presented to the hospice last June.
