Sussex Sonics produced an outstanding display of wheelchair basketball to beat London Raiders 55-33 and reach the League Cup final.

They took the first quarter 21-8, then kept a cleansheet in the second period, keeping Raiders' main shooters away from the basket and scoring 14 points at the other end.

Sonics edged the third quarter 18-17, then ran their bench as Raiders clawed back eight points to two in the final period.

Despite the convincing scoreline, it was a hard fought tussle at Moulsecoomb Leisure Centre.

Neil Armstrong led the way with 20 points, John Spencer and Carl Scott had eight apiece, Pete Bull added seven, Gary Mason six, Gary Gardiner four and Tracy Spencer two.

Sonics are preparing to challenge on two fronts in Nottingham next weekend.

They will be up against unbeaten Dublin Celts and Sheffield Steelers in their pool of the league play-offs and also have the cup final against Oldham Owls to look forward to.
