Former Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Andrew Petterson has been banned from driving after he was clocked travelling at over 100mph.
Petterson admitted the charge after police caught him travelling in an S-Type Jaguar at 34 miles over the speed limit on the M27, near Cadnam, Hants, on New Year's Eve.
The 34-year-old Australian national told the court: "I realise I was a danger to myself and other people. As soon as I saw the flashing lights behind me I looked down and saw I was speeding.
"But I was in a borrowed car and wasn't used to such a powerful vehicle."
Magistrates yesterday disqualified the footballer for 28 days. He was also given a £200 fine and ordered to pay £35 costs.
A professional for 15 years, Petterson, who lives in Portsmouth and is currently out of contract, played for Albion between August and November last year.
