Brighton Rangers have a deadly goalscoring trio - the McBride brothers.

Club top-scorer Ryan, scorer of 27 goals, struck a hat-trick in a 5-0 win against rivals American Express in Division One with Aaron and Asa also hitting the onion bag.

And American Express must think the boys have got something against them. Last time the teams met last season, Ryan hit a treble with Aaron (2) and Asa again also finding the mark.

It certainly leaves manager Eddie Riley with an embarrassment of riches, which is probably why they are sitting proudly at the top of the table.

He said: "The lads are all capable of scoring goals, but each one of them has different strengths.

"Ryan's a natural goalscorer and out of the three he's more likely to progress.

"Only the other week he bagged all our six goals. He can win a game on his own and the lad creates chances as well.

"Asa is excellent out wide on the right. He's a good crosser of the ball. And Aaron is an attack minded central midfielder and usually gets among the goals."

The brothers, who live in Whitehawk, teamed up together at Patcham a couple of seasons ago. The club were thrown out of the Premier Division last season and they all signed for Brighton Rangers.

Ryan, the youngest at 17, said: "We knew Eddie quite well and the team has improved no end since ourselves and a few other lads went over there.

"I just love scoring goals. We've only got five matches left, so another five would do nicely for me."

Elder brother Aaron is the team captain. He said: "Ryan's definitely the most skillful player out of the three. He scores for fun."

Asa, who is 19. compliments the other two well from the flank - but Aaron admits it's not all a sweet bed of roses.

He quipped: "We're always arguing. Because I'm the captain and have to sort things out sometimes they give me a bit of a hard time. But that I guess is brotherly love."

The brothers are our JAKO youth footballers of the week.
