Albion have no plans to raise the crowd limit at Withdean again if they are promoted.

The Seagulls have a meeting soon with Brighton and Hove Council and Stadium managers Ecovert to discuss facilities at their temporary home next season.

Extra seats were put in either side of the east goal last summer, lifting the crowd limit to almost 7,000.

Last Saturday's promotion showdown against Cardiff attracted a record attendance of 6,922, but chief executive Martin Perry said: "We are not considering an increased capacity at this stage. We are concentrating on completing the negotiations to put the Falmer planning application in.

"There are no differences between Division Three and Division Two in terms of League regulations. The main difference as you go up the Leagues is lighting levels, but ours are certainly satisfactory for the Second Division and may even be good enough for the First."

One of the main topics of conversation with the Council and Ecovert will be £50,000 worth of further pitch improvements, designed to provide a permanent solution to the problem of waterlogging.

"We are proposing a comprehensive drainage system beneath the surface of the pitch to deal with the water," Perry revealed. There is not an effective drainage layer at the moment and that is why the water sits just below the surface."

Boss Micky Adams was pleasantly surprised by the impact of extra drainage and turfing repairs last Saturday.

"The pitch was terrific," he said. "I was a little bit sceptical before the game, but it stood up remarkably well and that will help us in the coming months."

The repairs will be further tested by four matches in the space of 23 days, kicking-off with Tuesday's visit by play-off contenders Blackpool.

The twice-postponed trip to Rochdale now takes place on April 3.
