Lewes and East Grinstead both suffered humiliating defeats in National League division two.

Havant hammered an ill-disciplined Lewes 6-1 while Grinstead lost 4-3 away to already relegated Blueharts.

Lewes finished their match with eight players after Tim Garner, Ryan Standing and Adrian Bettesworth were all yellow carded in the closing stages.

Manager Paul Benoy said: "We lost our discipline and it is something we need to address for next season.

"We have done it a lot this year and it does affect your game."

Lewes may have expected better things when goalkeeper Marc Wilkinson saved an early penalty flick but Havant kept up the pressure and led 4-0 at half time.

The first 25 minutes of the second half were better for Lewes and they gained some consolation when Will Champness scored from a penalty corner. However, Havant scored twice more including one in the last ten minutes when the cards were being flashed.

Benoy added: "You could say it was 2-1 in the second half and that was more of a reflection of the difference of abilities between the teams."

East Grinstead's preparations for their trip to Blueharts were not good and they went down 4-3.

Grinstead's second team had been declared champions of the 2nd XI South Premier League on Saturday which means they will go forward to the national play-offs.

Player-coach Ian Pattison said: "After the 2nd XI game on Saturday, this was a bit of a comedown. There was nothing right with it and our preparation was not good as six of the players were caught in an accident on the way there which meant the start was put back 30 minutes and they only arrived 15 minutes before pushback."

Pattison scored twice as Grinstead twice levelled the match in the first half. Mike Holland put the visitors ahead five minutes before the break but Blueharts replied immediately and then scored a winner in the first minute of the second half.
