Rye and Iden United manager Keith Miles insists his side are fearless going into their Sussex Senior Cup semi-final clash with Crawley at Lewes tonight.

The County League division two minnows face a David and Goliath encounter against the Dr Martens League premier division giants but Miles has warned Crawley not to underestimate his side.

He said: "We're not afraid of them by any means and if they think we are just going to go there to roll over they have another thing coming.

"We are confident in our own ability and more than confident of coming out winners on the day, but one thing is for sure it is not going to be easy for them."

Miles watched Reds throw away a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw with Moor Green on Saturday and admitted he was not too impressed.

"They gave two sloppy goals away so I fancy us to score against them because we always score goals. I also heard some of their supporters talking about us during the game and they weren't giving us a hope in hell. Hopefully their players will be thinking that as well because if they do then they will be in for a bit of a shock."

Rye will be playing their third game in five days as they try to ease a backlog of fixtures and Miles admits the number of matches is beginning to take its toll on his squad.

Midfielder Liam Barham has already been ruled out for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury and captain and top scorer Scott Price looks set to join him after rupturing ankle ligaments in Monday's 2-1 win against Worthing United.

Crawley have injury problems of their own with Mo Harkin (hamstring) and Nic McDonnell (knee) both missing.

Top scorer McDonnell is due to have an MRI scan today on his damaged cartilage to find out whether he will need an operation which could rule him out for the rest of the season.

Captain Peter Fear is suspended but ankle injury victim Neil Le Bihan looks set to return.

Assistant manager Vic Bettinelli said: "We are really struggling at the moment but this is a competition we want to win so whoever plays will be up for it.

"To win silverware is our main priority this season, so although we will respect Rye, we expect to go out there and beat them."
