It's all very well for Ivor Caplin MP to complain about being slow-handclapped by anti-war protesters but perhaps if he took the time to answer letters expressing concern we would not feel the need.

The man we elected to represent us has so far taken two months to reply to a letter I wrote him regarding government policy on Iraq.

Come the next election, I am sure he will be among the Labour MPs who will realise the disgust and anger people feel for the contempt the electorate is apparently held in.

When senior politicians such as Robin Cook resign because they believe the Government no longer represents the people who elected it, I am interested to hear Mr Caplin's arguments to the contrary. I won't hold out any hope of a reply though.
