The Argus last night tracked down the photographer who has kept newlyweds waiting months for their wedding pictures.

Shaun Chandler apologised and promised he would post the prints to all his disgruntled customers later this week.

He admitted letting down about a dozen customers and explained: "My wife left me and it meant my outgoings doubled and my income halved.

"I got a bit depressed but I have not been fraudulent. I got into financial trouble and I did not cope with it very well.

"Along with the photographs, I'll be sending customers an explanatory letter apologising."

Mr Chandler was speaking minutes after meeting trading standards officers in Brighton. They and colleagues from West and East Sussex wanted to speak to him after receiving complaints.

He was responding after we detailed complaints from couples who had paid him hundreds of pounds but were still waiting for their pictures.

Lisa and Dean Frazer, from Langley Green, Crawley, married last May.

Mrs Frazer said: "The Argus has done a brilliant job - thank you so much. It's great he's sending us our pictures at last."

Meanwhile, more unhappy customers came forward yesterday.

Bride Hilary Bason, from Broadfield, Crawley, said they paid Mr Chandler almost £500 for prints after her September wedding.

She said: "I had thought of taking him to the Small Claims Court but that was going to cost us. I am quite angry."

Toby Chapman married Emma in August and the couple, from Brighton, and their relatives ordered about £500 of prints. They have heard nothing since.

Mr Chapman said: "People keep asking where are our photos."

Another couple, married in Hailsham in July, paid £400. They have been waiting ever since and say they are "absolutely gutted".

Also waiting are parents of youngsters at Maplehurst Nursery School in Hastings.
