Brighton and Hove City Councillor Chris Morley said (The Argus, March 10) the council deals with the parking difficulties residents in some areas have in a measured, organised way and with full consultation with the residents.

Where I live, his comments are simply not true. The council has an anti-car policy which in my road can be clearly seen.

Over the past few years, it has put down double yellow lines on both sides of the road, then started to put in parking bays but ran out of money before they were finished.

It has now begun to plant logs in the grass verges. These things have all been done with no consultation with anybody in this road.

Until councillors wake up to the fact that people have to park somewhere, more and more car owners will be left with no choice but to park where, according to the council, they are not supposed to.

Over the past few weeks, people from the council have been wandering about taking photographs of the state Gladstone Road is now in.

These faceless people from the council should not blame the residents - they should blame themselves.

Let's hope their anti-car policy does a U-turn before more people suffer the same as us.
