A memorial concert is being planned to celebrate the life of Adam Faith, the actor and former pop star who died last week.

The 62-year-old star will be buried at a private ceremony in Tunbridge Wells tomorrow near his home in Kent.

It will be followed by a memorial event, probably in London, later this year, which his fans can attend.

Brighton entrepreneur David Courtney is helping Adam's wife Jackie sort out the tributes to Adam, who was popular throughout show business.

David will be one of the pall bearers at the family ceremony at the Kent and Sussex Crematorium.

Many of Adam's close friends are expected to attend the ceremony, including Michael Parkinson and Leeds United manager Terry Venables.

A shrine where his fans can place their tributes has been opened outside the Walk of Fame Cafe at Brighton Marina.

The actor and singer had close links with Sussex and for many years lived in the county.

One of his many show business friends Carol Kaye, of the Kaye sisters, was one of the first people to place a floral tribute at the shrine, close to the spot where Adam is featured on the Walk of Fame.

David Courtney, who created the walk of fame, said tributes to Adam had been coming in from all over the world.

He said: "I want his fans to treat the Walk of Fame Cafe as a place where they can come to pay their tributes.

"Adam would not want people to mourn his death. That is why we are working towards an event which will celebrate, not mourn, his life."

Family, friends and fans are still in shock at the sudden death of Adam, who collapsed with a heart attack at a hotel in Stoke in the early hours of March 8.

Adam was on a nationwide tour of the play Love and Marriage.

The play completed its run at the Theatre Royal, Brighton, last week with Adam's character, Bill, played by actor Kevin Donohoe.

There was talk of cancelling the touring production but the cast and theatre management all agreed Adam would have wanted the show to go on.

The Hero of the Year award, which is part of the Argus Achievement Awards, will this year be presented by Brighton Walk of Fame in memory of Adam Faith.
