I must comment on the effect the Blatchington Mill School pupils' demonstration on Friday, March 7, had on the neighbouring community.
From our church office, on the corner of Holmes and Nevill Avenues, we saw the "dozens" of pupils not only walking out of school but also into the middle of the roads, endangering their own lives and those of passing motorists.
Worse still was the disturbing effect on a group of mothers and young toddlers who were in the church centre, who we prevented from going out to their cars to avoid going through a large crowd of pupils, some of whom were letting off fire crackers and creating what was a terrifying experience for some concerned.
While it is good our young people are encouraged to think about some of the crucial issues in the world, we also need to help develop a right attitude to making those views known.
