Newlyweds Rob and Sam Double are heartbroken after burglars stole video footage of their marriage and honeymoon.

They hadn't even had chance to watch the tapes before the thieves struck.

Teacher Mrs Double, 28, said: "We are devastated. The videos are irreplaceable.

"We've had photographs taken but the footage, which was taken on a Sony digital camcorder, was special. The burglars have stolen our memories."

Also stolen were videos of an elderly relative shortly before he died.

The crooks broke into the Doubles' flat in Holland Road, near Hove police station, at the weekend.

They helped themselves to other video cassettes and electrical equipment but the footage of the honeymoon, in the Maldives and Sri Lanka, is irreplaceable.

Mr Double, 30 and a sales engineer, married Sam at Buxted Park, near Lewes, last August.

He said: "The tapes are priceless. They are of no use to anyone but us and I just hope they have been dumped somewhere."

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Burglars care nothing for things of sentimental value.

"We would appeal to anyone with information about the break-in or the whereabouts of the tapes and other stolen property to come forward."
