A film director will be quizzed on his work by movie lovers at a special event.

Alex Cox has agreed to go in the director's chair at the Dome cinema, on Worthing seafront, on Sunday, March 30, at 3pm.

That afternoon, the cinema will be screening his latest film, The Revengers Tragedy, a macabre offering featuring an all-star cast including Derek Jacobi, Eddie Izzard, Christopher Eccleston and Diana Quick.

Mr Cox will answer questions about the film and about his impressive body of work, which includes writing and direction for films such as Sid And Nancy, Repo Man and Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas.

Belle Stennett, chairman of the Worthing Dome and Regeneration Trust, said: "We are thrilled to have the chance to have such a critically-acclaimed director as Alex Cox with us at our first director's chair afternoon."

Tickets cost £15, which includes afternoon tea, or £10 for film and discussion only.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Dome Regeneration Appeal, which is trying to raise £150,000 to carry out essential restoration work on the Edwardian building.

Once that money is raised, the Heritage Lottery Fund has agreed to grant the cinema about £1.5 million towards the scheme.
