Relatives on three continents are hunting for missing 15-year-old Micaela Page, who disappeared on Monday with her passport, red suitcase and £350.

Her worried mother thinks she may have flown to Peru where family members and her ex-boyfriend live or to Florida where her father lives.

Micaela's grandmother has been at Lima Airport waiting for flights to arrive from London in case she is on board.

Micaela's mother, Ursula Page, 38, a passenger assistant at Gatwick Airport, last night pleaded: "We are not angry with you Micaela. Please let us know you are safe."

Micaela, who moved to Brighton from Peru with her mother and sister, Andrea, nine, last October, has had problems settling in at her new school, Patcham High.

Mrs Page, of Brangwyn Crescent, Patcham, said: "Micaela made new friends but fell out with them and she didn't want to go to school.

"I told her she had to but she crept out of the house early on Monday morning while I was asleep."

She believes Micaela made her way to Gatwick.

She said: "Her mobile phone is switched off. That could mean she boarded a flight.

"I think she has gone to Peru. We have a lot of family and Micaela had a boyfriend there."

Mrs Page, who has not slept since her daughter's disappearance, has contacted relatives in Peru and Micaela's father who lives in Florida:

She said: "They are all watching and searching for her."

Micaela's sister has not wanted to go to school so she can stay at home in case of news.

Mrs Page said: "Andrea misses her sister terribly. We just want her home and safe."

Mrs Page has spoken with Micaela's schoolfriends: "They feel guilty about what happened.

"Micaela was having a hard time settling in to her new school and she fell out with them.

"Micaela and I have had disagreements in the past and she has stayed away with friends but she has always phoned to say where she was and when she would be home.

"I have heard nothing this time and I am so worried."

Police are also concerned for Micaela's safety.

A spokesman said: "Micaela spoke to friends about joining relatives in Peru or Florida so it is possible she has flown abroad. We are checking passenger lists.

"In the meantime, we would appeal to anyone with information about Micaela's whereabouts to come forward."

Micaela is 5ft 7in with long brown hair, usually worn loose.

Police want to hear from any travel agent who may have sold Micaela a ticket or members of the public who may have seen her.

Anyone with information should call Brighton and Hove police on 0845 6070999.
