Once again, a certain Portslade resident is allowed to use The Argus letters page to express his own jaundiced personal opinion of Sussex Police for his own personal agenda, whatever that is.

As a representative of a professional organisation, I welcome feedback so we can continually improve the way we serve the public.

I would prefer, however, that all the facts are made clear so an objective opinion can be formed.

We are accountable and I have no problem with anyone making a complaint about the police as, believe it or not, we police officers are human and occasionally make mistakes, either as individuals or as an organisation.

We can all learn from our mistakes to prevent reoccurrences.

All I suggested was each case is treated on its own merits but I suppose being blindly prejudiced in any way is far more comforting because it prevents the individual from having to make the effort to think for him or herself.

I, for one, am very grateful I live in a country where I can complain about the police and publicly voice my criticism of authority without fear of prosecution, torture or imprisonment.
