Fifth-bottom Redhill battled their way to earn a 1-0 victory at Southwick in County League division one.

Redhill held on for nearly an hour after John Difford's decisive 30 yard strike on 35 minutes.

Sidley joint-boss Glenn Sully was disappointed with the nature of the performance as much as the goal after third placed Whitehawk won 1-0 at Gullivers thanks to Simon Rowland's finish.

Sully said: "Their goal was offside but the assistant said a player was not interfering. I don't think that rule helps officials at this level although we defended the move badly anyway and didn't create much. A draw may have been a fairer result."

Ian Costello and Paul Ford got the goals as Ringmer won 2-1 at fourth placed Chichester. Paul Thomas replied for Chi who had Matt Osborne sent off for two bookable offences.

Lee Farrell got the only goal as East Preston beat Pagham 1-0.

Sidlesham bounced back to winning ways with a 4-1 triumph over visitors Three Bridges who were reduced to ten men when sweeper Steve Roberts was sent off in the first half for a second bookable offence.

Bridges took the lead through Phil Gault but Richie Davies, with a 25-yard freekick for the first of his two, brought the hosts level.

Glen Bridgeman and Mark Wozniak also found the target as usual striker Scott Tipper turned out for Ryman League Bognor.

Hassocks continue to climb the table and stole a 2-1 victory over Shoreham after a controversial final few minutes which saw the visitors have Jason Tighe sent off for an alleged stamp.

Pat Harding had his penalty pushed out by James Laing but pounced on the rebound to secure Robins' victory after they had trailed early on to Mark Pulling's header.

Harding equalised for Hassocks two minutes later before the late drama.
