Both the United Nations (set up after the Second World War) and its predecessor the League of Nations (set up after the First World War), are "imperfect" organisations (Voice of The Argus, February 24) but they have been the only unifying force in the world for almost 100 years, despite being made "imperfect" by powerfully aggressive states who either refuse to co-operate, especially financially, or simply resign.
