I loved the report of the first spat of the local election campaign (The Argus, February 14).

I'm glad to see Councillors Bodfish and Elgood at each other's throats again because good government relies on good opposition and any ruling party should be kept on its toes.

On this one, Labour has made a mistake - never let your challengers know you are worried about losing a seat since that will only encourage them more.

We're in for an interesting set of elections. The pundits should start placing odds on the Lib Dems gaining Regency - Labour is clearly rattled.
