We have lost three games in a row and are no longer favourites for the title but, contrary to what you might have read elsewhere, I am not giving up on top spot in this league.

Looking at the table, we have made life hard for ourselves because we have one more defeat than Sheffield and we have games in hand to make up.

Maybe that's a good thing in a way though. I would rather have games in hand than have played a lot of games when we have been short of players recently.

The home game with Leopards is a good example. That was the game we called off because it fell the night before the National Cup final. We have been trying to re-arrange that and have given Leopards various dates but they have not agreed anything with us and it might not have served them so well.

They will be thinking they could have played us now while we only had a half a team. Instead, they will probably get us at the Brighton Centre in mid-March when we plan on having everyone healthy.

Looking at the league positions right now, Robbie Peers, the Chester coach, said his team need us to beat Sheffield twice if they are to have any chance and I can understand why he thinks that. Sheffield are well placed because they only have 13 games left to play and do not have too hard a run-in.

We spoke about the league position after the Chester game on Sunday evening. We are still in this title race and we are not going to make any excuses.

Scheduling, reffing, injuries, anything we don't like we have got to overcome. The key for us is to get back to work on the practice court. We will concentrate on our defence, which is what we are known for. We had a huge lapse in the second half against Scottish Rocks last Saturday night but we will be back and ready for London Towers this Sunday.

That will be a big game for us. We have won twice up there since the turn of the year and they will coming here for revenge but we also have a point to prove after our home defeat last weekend.

The other thing for Towers is that they one of a group of teams who could get that fourth spot and secure home court advantage in the play-off quarter-finals.

Strangely I have not heard too many people talking about getting fourth place. I wonder if that is because home advantage does not make too much of a difference to them. If you look at the results of teams around that area in the league, they do not seem to be winning any more at home than they are away.

Ralph Blalock was away having treatment today and we will be doing all we can to get him out there at the weekend. That could mean an injection to get him through the game though hopefully the solution will be more long term than that.

I was annoyed after Saturday's game but rest assured I didn't do a Fergie and start kicking boots around! I might like Manchester United but the closest I've gone to that is throwing the odd basketball around a few times. I trust that will not be necessary on Sunday.

We will see you then and, before that, Bears fans are welcome to Henry J. Bean's bar in West Street, Brighton, tonight, where the players and I will be hosting another Ballers social evening from 6.30pm. Call in if you can.
