A negative stance prevails among some readers that Brighton and Hove is not suitable for a rapid transport system.
Tram systems in this country carry an increasing number of passengers and at the turn of the year a six per cent increase was recorded over the previous year.
New tram systems are proposed for Liverpool, Edinburgh, Portsmouth and Nottingham. Existing systems at Croydon, Sheffield and Manchester (expected to increase by 50 per cent over the next few years) go from strength to strength.
In Europe, existing tram systems are expanding in Grenoble, Strasbourg, Lyon, Montpellier, Valencia, Barcelona and Dublin.
No one can tell me Brighton and Hove is so unique it is not possible to have or plan a rapid transport system to ease its considerable traffic problems.
