With very little to play for, Bognor Pirates coach Dave Goss used all his bench and saw an encouraging display in the 80-73 defeat of Swindon Sonics.
Regular scorers Dave Turner and Paul Sparrowhawk found the going tough, shooting a combined seven-of-31 as Sonics trailed 38-21 at the half.
Huge efforts from the bench then almost saw Sonics snatch a win at the death.
Yaz El Hakim, Ashley Clarke and Gareth Skyrme earned praise from the coach.
