A teenager whose noisy sex life disturbed her neighbours has been fined £1,000.

Jodie Hitchings was heard screaming out her boyfriend's name.

Meanwhile she was playing her music loudly, including songs by Shaggy and Ms Dynamite's A Little Deeper.

Neighbours living near her in Downland Court, Stonery Road, Portslade, complained to Brighton and Hove City Council.

Hitchings, 19, was accused of two offences of failing to comply with a noise abatement notice, which was served on her in June.

She did not appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court and the case was proved in her absence. She was ordered to pay £960 costs.

A music system and nearly 50 CDs and tapes seized by officers were ordered to be forfeited.

Magistrate Zev Soloman said: "The court has great sympathy with the neighbours. This is a very severe case of disturbance."

Hitchings, a mother of one, moved earlier this month after the council started eviction proceedings. She is now living at Parish House, Perryfield Road, Southgate, Crawley.

Len Batten, prosecuting for the council, told the court how neighbours living in the block of six flats in Portslade had been disturbed night and day by noise.

They had to endure music played so loud they could not hear their televisions. They also complained about hear ing her have noisy sex.

A statement read out to the court from Alan Keeling, a council technical officer, told how he visited the neighbours a number of times in October to monitor the noise levels from the flat.

Hitchings had admitted breaching the order before at a hearing in August when she was fined £200 and ordered to forfeit two music systems seized by the council.
