A CCTV network which will watch over a Brighton housing estate 24 hours a day in a bid to cut crime has been officially launched.
The cameras have been installed in north Moulsecoomb. More than £300,000 has been spent on the system.
Some of the money was spent on improving the street lighting on the estate to ensure the six cameras will have the best view possible of any crime or public order offences being committed.
The funding came from the Home Office, eb4u - East Brighton For You, the Government scheme working to regenerate the estate - Sussex Police and Brighton and Hove City Council.
Residents chose where the cameras would be sited and each one will be housed in a blue dome so criminals cannot tell which way the camera is pointing, giving them less opportunity to avoid the lens.
The cameras are monitored from Brighton police station.
