Crawley boss Billy Smith is taking no chances with tonight's league game against Chippenham Town.

Four players are struggling with knocks and they will be rested ahead of Saturday's FA Cup second round match at home to Dagenham.

Neil Le Bihan limped out of the 1-0 win at Cambridge in the FA Trophy on Saturday with a knee injury. He is definitely out tonight and could miss Saturday as well.

Top scorer Nic McDonnell (groin), Ellis Hooper (shin) and Mo Harkin are also all doubtful.

Smith may play three up front tonight which would mean a recall for Warren Bagnall, who scored the dramatic late winner against Tiverton in the last round of the FA Cup.

Smith said: "It's awkward but I've got a big squad so we'll get on with it.

"I know what my team is for Saturday but the Chippenham game will give me another chance to sit down and think things through.

"I watched Dagenham last week and I just have to think about how we'll go about it. The most important thing is to have everyone fit."

Chippenham are one place above Reds in sixth in the Dr Martens premier division.

The two promotion-chasing sides are level on points and a win for Crawley will move them up the table.

Bagnall, whose goal against Tivvy was his fourth of the season, admitted Saturday's game against Dagenham is a distraction from the club's main aim, promotion to the Conference.

"It's difficult," he said. "We want to say we are all totally focused on the league because it is what we all want to win the most, but the FA Cup is a bit special. It's the first time most of us have featured in the first and second round of the competition and it has given us all a real buzz."

Bagnall is desperate to force his way into the starting line-up on Saturday.

The 26-year-old Hazelwick PE teacher has been limited to a handful of starts this term due to injuries and the form shown by Dave Stevens and ten-goal Nic McDonnell.

Bagnall said: "It has been a strange season for me because I haven't really been fit until now. I was struggling with a back injury recently and I had two groin operations in the summer.

"The season hasn't really got going for me and I missed all of pre-season with one injury or another. I've been on the bench playing the last ten minutes and it has been a bit stop-start.

"Now I have scored twice in three games so hopefully this can be the turning point of the season for me."
