Chichester slipped into the relegation places in the South Premier following a 6-2 defeat away to Oxford University.
Two defensive errors allowed Oxford to take a two-goal lead. Chi rallied, prompted by Oli Lane-Smith and Ian Dougal, and pulled a goal back when Andy Savory won a short corner which Peter Turner converted.
Chi played with more fire in the second period. Neil Pendle should have scored and several other chances went begging.
Oxford scored again but Turner converted another corner for 3-2 and then almost levelled when he struck the bar.
Oxford scored a fourth to crush Chi's spirits and kill off any hopes of a fightback.
