Nathan Jones is desperate for the chance to impress Albion boss Steve Coppell after a rare double injury blow.

The fit-again Welsh wizard wants to prove he is worthy of regaining a first team place in the Seagulls' fight for First Division survival.

Jones, a regular in the team which won consecutive championships, has been restricted to two senior starts this season by coincidental knee trouble.

"I strained the medial ligament in my right leg pre-season against Bognor, came back from that and then did the same injury in my left leg at Rotherham," he said.

"I had never been injured before throughout my career, so to go from that to two injuries in three months has been frustrating and really hard for me to take."

Jones and Albion's other long term casualties were denied the opportunity to stake a claim for the suspended Paul Brooker's left wing berth at Wolves next Monday with the postponement of last night's reserve game against Plymouth at Worthing.

"I'm ready, I just need to play games now," he said. "I am desperate to play and get back into it. Fitness is not a problem, I am naturally fit anyway. It's just the sharpness I need.

"I am a bubbly and bouncy sort of person and I need to be involved, training and playing. When a new manager comes in you really want to show what you can do.

"I really want to play leftback, but I have played on the left side of midfield before and if it means getting back into the team I would love to take Bozzy's place at Wolves. I'll play in goal if needs be.

"It's a big game for the club after our long awaited second victory against Bradford. We want to kick on from that and I want to be part of it."
