Albion ace Graham Barrett could find himself in a hole again in a bid to outfox Wolves.

Boss Steve Coppell is ready to persevere with the Republic of Ireland under 21 star in a revised role just off Bobby Zamora for Monday's trip to Molineux.

Former Albion manager Liam Brady told The Argus at the start of September that Barrett's "best position would be just behind Zamora."

Brady knows the on-loan Arsenal prospect's style well in his capacity as head of youth development at Highbury and that is where Coppell played Barrett in last Saturday's long-awaited 3-2 home victory against Bradford City.

"If anything it is more of his natural game," Coppell said. "It suits him and it isolates Bobby, which he can cope with.

"It gives a problem to defenders, whether they double up on Bobby and then leave space maybe for Graham to come into.

"I think as well sometimes when we don't have the ball it's nice for the midfield players to have a screen put up in front of them."

Coppell has also revealed he will be prepared to tinker with the defensive tactics as the Seagulls try to pull away from the bottom of the table.

"I like my 4-4-2, I must admit," he said. "Where Graham played last Saturday is a variation on it.

"I'm quite comfortable with a sweeper as well, which I think we could do quite easily. I think we've got loads of options there.

"The bottom line is the quality of players and how well they play. If we play well then we are competitive, if we don't play well then we are not competitive.

"I think that is something everyone would agree with, even the Albion fans who can only see through blue and white glasses."

Meanwhile, Albion's latest reserve team fixture against Plymouth at Worthing has been rained off.

It is the third postponement in a row for the reserves and Seagulls boss Steve Coppell will have to wait to see his fringe players in action.

Coppell has not yet seen a number of his players in competitive action and was looking forward to the game to decide on a replacement for the banned Paul Brooker at Wolves.

The previously injured quintet of John Piercy, Nathan Jones, Steve Melton, Robbie Pethick and Geoff Pitcher had all been named in the squad.
