Three men attacked and indecently assaulted a woman as she walked through a walkway near Brighton racecourse.

The 37-year-old woman was in the underpass which links Warren Road and the Whitehawk estate, when she noticed the three men at the far end.

One of the trio grabbed her by the hair and held her against the ground as she was indecently assaulted.

A small amount of cash was taken before the woman struggled free and ran off.

The incident occurred at 9.45pm last night.

All her attackers were aged between 22 and 25. One was slim, with short black hair and a blue jacket.

Another had fair hair and dark clothing and was wearing woollen gloves. There is no description of the third attacker.

Detective Constable Jason Foy, of Brighton and Hove police, said: "It was quiet at that time of night but there may well have been people who saw three men hanging around. We need them to contact us."

A 54-year-old woman was indecently assaulted in a second attack last night.

The woman was walking near the Esso garage in Hollingdean Road, Brighton, when she was approached from behind by a teenager.

Her attacker, who said he was 18 during the incident, pushed the woman into Freehold Terrace where he assaulted her.

The man ran off along Freehold Terrace when the victim screamed.

Detectives appealed for anybody in the area at the time of the attack, at 11pm last night, to contact them.

The attacker is described as white, 6ft, thin in the face with short, dark hair.

He was wearing a light top with stripes on the shoulders.
