A developer and a train operator have agreed to work together to find ways of improving Burgess Hill station.
South Central Trains and the West Burgess Hill Company (WHBC) will review public transport links and examine how to give residents of Burgess Hill and the surrounding areas easier access.
The WHBC wants to build up to 3,500 new homes to the west of the town as well as 500,000sqm of business space.
Director Martin Wilkes said: "We are pleased to be working with South Central and other transport providers to ensure that as Burgess Hill expands, provision for all journeys improve.
"Integrated transport links will result in significant benefits for all members of the community and compliment our intention for regeneration.
"Underlying our proposals is the belief we can help deliver West Sussex County Council's strategic vision for improving links and guiding investment between Gatwick, Crawley and the coast."
South Central trains has said it has no plans to reduce services through Burgess Hill and are in discussion with the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA) on funding for changes to the station's environment.
A spokesman for the operator said: "We are happy to work with anyone to make improvements."
