Police have urged people from outside Lewes to avoid the town's famous bonfire celebrations and mark Guy Fawkes night closer to home.
More than 10,000 people flouted similar stay-away warnings last year, swelling the crowds watching the processions and fireworks to an estimated 35,000.
Chief Superintendent Paul Pearce, in charge of policing the celebrations on Tuesday, said people from outside Lewes should think twice about going to the celebrations.
He said: "We would urge people to attend local celebrations rather than come to Lewes."
