A host of stars gathered to launch Brighton's newest boutique hotel.

Champagne flowed, trays of canapes circulated and guests smoked Cuban cigars at the exclusive party at the Hotel du Vin and Bistro in Ship Street on Saturday.

Sixty jobs have been created and more than £6 million spent transforming the former Bar Centro site into the chain's fifth venue.

Famous faces at the party included footballer David Ginola, comic Steve Coogan, sports star Linford Christie, boxing champ Chris Eubank, comic Ben Elton, newsreader Kirsty Young and Fast Show star Mark Williams.

Hotel du Vin managing director Robin Hutson, was also joined by co-founders of stage show Stomp, Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, as well as rugby stars Ben Clarke and Brian Moore.

Guests swayed to Latin music and Hove-based Coogan was still partying in the early hours.

The hotel has 37 bedrooms and suites. To book, call 01273 718588.
