Bognor goalkeeper Craig Stoner faces a lengthy lay-off after breaking his arm in two places.

Stoner, who has been in superb form recently, suffered the injury during Rocks' 3-0 home win over Staines in Ryman League division one south.

Boss Jack Pearce now faces a hunt for a new keeper ahead of next Saturday's Trophy tie with Boreham Wood.

Pearce admitted: "I haven't got a clue who I will bring in. I know Havant needed a keeper recently and eventually they got one from Birmingham. I hope I haven't got to go that far."

Matt Russell, who had headed the opener, went in goal after Stoner's departure.

Fit-again Nicky Wyatt also scored and Pearce was particularly excited by Michael Birmingham's goal, drilled home on the run after his brother David had cut the ball back.

Pearce has insisted he will not quit as Rocks' boss, despite renewed criticism from some fans on the club's website. He has lost the services of his assistant Paul Holden, who has been appointed academy director at Crystal Palace.

Rocks have had a request to take striker Matt Allen on loan turned down by Eastbourne Borough.

Gary Young capped an eventful week by firing Worthing's equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Corinthian Casuals.

Young has adopted the unofficial role of players' spokesman of late as the squad look to strike up a closer rapport with fans.

His finish, from a Wes Lopez header, rewarded a strong response by Rebels to Iain Waghorn's 25-yard opener just before the break.

Roy Pook scored four goals as Withdean trounced rock bottom Viking Greenford 9-0 in the Combined Counties League.

Sam Francis chipped in with a brace to take his tally to 25 for the season while Jay Pickering, Ollie Rowland and Cameron Johnson also found the net.

Amazingly, it was only 1-0 at half time but Withdean took control after the interval with Pook grabbing centre stage.

General manager Mark Stevens said: "Both teams in the first half were quite poor but we came out a lot stronger in the second half and they couldn't cope.

"They are bottom of the league and you can see why. It could have been into double figures."
