While I am frustrated at the difficulty in parking when I am at my work, I have curtailed services to agents and commercial and domes-tic properties in central Brighton.

I am not against the £3 waiver fee but I feel Brighton and Hove City Council has still not asked the majority of traders affected.

Why not write directly with a questionnaire to all those on its own database who currently apply for waivers and permits? Where is this consultation?

Last Friday, I had a call to pick up keys for two jobs from an agent's office in Queens Road. Being sensible, I do not park in Queens Road but go to North Gardens. I found on my return a parking ticket showing an offence for four minutes. I was not obstructing.

Rather incensed, I went to the parking office and asked if I was to buy a waiver to just collect keys. The officer suggested I park in North Gardens and did not think a waiver was needed.

I produced my A4 "collecting keys" notice and the ticket, whereupon the officer agreed the ticket given was insensitive.

The traders are being targeted by some wardens not being sensible about our needs. A two-hour permit is worthless for attending post-burglary work requested after 2pm. It may take until 5-6pm to restore security to a front door and the permit runs out at 4pm.

I would like to see some real responses from the council's consultation.
